Shannon

When I originally started working as an employee for Companion Care in January of 2005, I had no idea that I would one day become the owner! However, it didn’t take long to figure out that I had found my true calling working with animals. I grew up in a house full of pets and I was thrilled to find a job that actually paid me to spend time with and take care of so many wonderful animals. After working alongside Lee for two years, she offered me the opportunity to become her partner and co-owner of Companion Care. I eagerly accepted her offer and beginning January 2009, we’ve been operating the company seamlessly ever since.

I moved here from Del Rio, Texas in the summer of 2004 and have since fallen in love with Austin! With all that it has to offer, I like to spend my time off exploring the city and as much as I love music and art there is always something fun to do. I’m also just as happy to stay at home with a good book or movie and to spend time with my own cats, Dottie and Loki. I feel very fortunate that I’ve found a job that I look forward to everyday and am passionate about. I’ve really enjoyed all my years as a pet sitter and look forward to many more!

In December 2005, I moved to Austin from New York City, where I was an Employee Benefits Consultant for five years. As challenging and gratifying as my job was, I always knew my “calling” was elsewhere and took the move to Austin as an opportunity to pursue what I considered my real love and passion - working with animals.

Soon after the move, I began working as a part-time dog walker and pet sitter for Companion Care while I subsequently mapped out my new career game plan. The opportunity to purchase Companion Care was presented to me, and I knew I had to jump on it. The time I spent working for Companion Care had only solidified my resolution to work with animals. I enjoyed every minute of the job and knew it was where I was meant to be.

I have found Austin to be one of the most exciting and wonderful places to live and have yet to encounter a dull moment. In addition to playing with dogs and cats all day, I love to read and do anything physically active, especially if it’s outdoors (here in Austin, there are endless possibilities!!) I look forward to the many years to come as co-owner of Companion Care and to serving the wonderful people and animals of Austin!

Our Staff

We've been fortunate enough to find individuals who possess a similar love and compassion for animals as well as a strong sense of responsibility and integrity. As a company, Companion Care demands nothing but the highest of standards of care from all its employees.

Ari

I graduated from UT in December ’09 with a double major in physical anthropology and religious studies. I’m from Houston, but after living in Austin, I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I’m so excited to be working with Companion Care and still can’t believe how lucky I am that this is what I get to do for a job! I grew up with several pets and I am so glad when I can visit my many new furry friends. It really is such a joy to be around animals and I’m pleased that you know your pets are happy and healthy while their owners are away. When I’m not gushing over animals, I read avidly and love to spend as much time outside as possible.

I am in my fourth year at UT and I am majoring in biology and pre-veterinary medicine. I am from Corpus Christi and have owned and loved big dogs all of my life. Before becoming an employee of Companion Care, I worked in a vet office in Dallas and volunteered at Corpus and Austin animal shelters. I have to say I am so lucky to have this job at Companion Care because it is a job that I absolutely love to go to every single day. Besides caring for animals, my hobbies include working out, taking my puppy to the dog park, running, and playing any and all sports.

Miriam

I graduated from UT (Fall 2009), majoring in History and minoring in Information Studies. I hail from Orange, TX, also known as the "last taste of Texas". After spending nearly three years in Austin though it's become my new home. Ever since I was little we've owned animals, mostly cats and dogs. I have my own puppy now, a Siberian Husky named Sheeba, and two cats, Annie and Booger. They've been the best companions while I've been in school. Needless to say, animals have always been a big part of my life and it gives me great pleasure to have the opportunity to work daily with animals to make sure they're taken care of.

Melanie

I am a Biology/Spanish major at UT. I started ballroom dancing a year ago and am in love with it. I also enjoy running and traveling. I grew up with a chocolate lab and several cats. I’ve always loved dogs but I thought I was a cat person until I started working for Companion Care. The dogs of Companion Care have shown me that they are incredibly loving and loyal. Each time I am greeted with a wagging tail, I am reminded how enjoyable and rewarding this job is.
